The world is a rat race to nowhere; nowhere in this world, that is! Those that finish the race ahead of you can have you as a guest at their funerals. However, thanks be to God, Jesus Christ offers us a much better alternative. Being in Christ we are not of this world, as Jesus said.
John 17:16- “They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.”
Therefore, we must be prepared to have “out of this world” experiences. That’s a major part of keeping us “out of the box”.
Romans 6:22-“But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God,you have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.”
1 Corinthians chapter 2
v9-“ But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”
v10-“ But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.”
Ephesians 3:10-“To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,
(These are features of real Christianity. “Out-of-the-box”, means out of this world.)
These fantastic spiritual experiences provide a greater source of fulfillment, then that offered by the world. That’s why we no longer look to the things of the world (or physical things) for fulfillment and satisfaction. That’s why we turned our back on it, and turned to Christ in the first place. We have already had that conversation with God and with ourselves. But yet, many people are longing for a way to get out of their box. Some have went to great extremes financially, and by other means. And as a famous singer once said, they “can’t get no satisfaction”. Those of us that have truly came to Christ, have found the key to lasting joy and peace. However, we must be watchful and prayerful, to ensure that the old ways do not sneak up on us again.
1 John Chapter 2
v15 – Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
v16 – For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
v17 – And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
Notice the contrasts between that which passes away, and that which abides (or remains) forever!
Romans 12:2-“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
