Sin is a bad case of mistaken identity! In our hungry hearts we long for a source of satisfaction and fulfillment. But, since as an individual, and as a human race, we have been a prisoner of time and space for so long we instinctively believe that the answer to our problems are “somewhere out there”.
To conquer the sin habit, one must replace instinct with rational thought; thorough analysis of the circumstances; the realization that there is a better alternative; and above all, spiritual perception.
Rational thought and thorough analysis usually hits the individual with a big jolt. The blinders began to come off their eyes. They will begin to realize they have been playing a losing game. The truth hurts at first!
“For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we cancarry nothing out.” -1Timothy 6:7
Therefore, what we really need is for something revolutionary to happen in us!We need spiritual perception. We need to know who we are!But that’s why Jesus Christ came into the world. He came to help us realize that our real needs are spiritual. Because as human beings, we are primarily spiritual beings. Our bodies are just sophisticated machines, destined to be used just for a season. Made out dust, for use on a dusty earth. Therefore we should realize the terminal aspects of the human body, and spend most of our time allowing God to satisfy our inner needs, as he prepares our inner selves (soul and spirit) for the long haul of eternity.
Jesus said in John 3:6, 7, “That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I saidunto thee, You must be born again.”
